This year’s NBA draft is one filled with talent and hype. There is a lot of promise behind players like Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball, but who can teams go to late in the draft that can provide some value?
Our answer is: Florida State’s Dwayne Bacon and South Carolina’s Sindarius Thornwell.
Dwayne Bacon is a big time wing player that could provide immediate scoring for a team in need. Bacon shot over 50% from the field for the Seminoles this past season. He stands at over 6’5, has a 6’10 wingspan, and weighs over 220lbs.
Our other sleeper pick in Sindarius Thornwell. Thornwell led the South Carolina Gamecocks to their first ever Final Four appearance this past year. Thornwell was also named 2017 SEC player of the year. Thornwell has a veteran mentality; he played four years for the Gamecocks, and showed to be a true leader on the court. He has an incredible physical makeup; sporting a 6’10 windspan.
Bacon and Thornwell have been bred for primetime. They played their high school basketball for powerhouse Oak Hill Academy. Oak Hill is known for it’s ability to manufacture successful NBA players. Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo, and many others played for the famed High School.
Both of these players can provide high percentage scoring and have the build to play the wing in today’s NBA. We believe that these two players have late round value, and could provide meaningful minutes to any team in need of solid wing players.
